Charles Eugene Spruill

Charles Eugene Spruill or better known by those who loved him most as Herm or Ghost, passed away in his home in Roper, NC, on March 11, 2021 after a long battle with multiple medical issues.

Charles was a devoted and beloved husband, father, brother, Papa and friend. He made his living as truck driver but it was more than just a job, it was his passion! He could give you directions to anywhere in the US and could tell you jokes all day long and never tell the same one twice. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by so many.

Surviving Charles in death are his two sisters, Betty Lavenia Spruill Christenberry and Louise Spruill Brickhouse; his wife Debi Phelps Spruill; three children, Charlene Carol Spruill, Noah Scott Phelps and Syd Weston Spruill; two granddaughters, Ella Meadow Parsons and Maliyah Grey Etheridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, John Lathan Spruill; mother, Cora Lee Rhodes Spruill; son, Charles Eugene Spruill Jr and six siblings, Grace, Mary, Matilda, Eli, John and Lathan.

In perfect Pea Ridge fashion, a pig pickin and memorial service will be held at the residence located at 3867 Pea Ridge Road, Roper, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20th. We hope to see you all there to celebrate a great man.
