Cassondra Lee Ivey, 57, of Hertford, NC, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City, N.C.
She was the beloved daughter of Oscar “Buddy” Ivey and Melissa DeHaven Ivey and loving mother to her daughter, Cate James. In addition, she is also survived by her younger brother, Joshua Logan Ivey and his wife, Madrena Ivey, a niece London Ivey, stepbrothers, Brandon Ivey, and Chris Ivey, and extended family members and friends.
Born in West Palm Beach, FL on July 29, 1967, Cassondra “Casey” was multi-talented, and respected by all who knew her. She was raised in Chesapeake, VA and graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1984 and went on to receive her Batchelor of Fine Arts Degree from E.C.U. She then resided for many years in Los Angeles, worked within the Designer Clothing Industry and later devoted herself solely to raising her daughter, Cate.
Upon relocating to Hertford, and with encouragement and nautical help from her good friend and fishing guide, Captain Jeff Onley, created and successfully began her favorite career as the sole proprietor of ‘Native Girl Kayaking’, with very popular Guided Tours of the North Carolina rivers and waterways. She was an avid nature lover which showed in her guidance and expertise of the local backwaters of the area. She was loved dearly and will be missed but remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Tribute will be held at a later date to be determined by family.
