Carolyn Scearce Megginson

   Carolyn Scearce Megginson, age 87, passed away peacefully, following a stroke on May 11, 2024 in Suffolk VA.

   Carolyn grew up in Danville, the daughter of Virginia Scearce, a textile mill working mother and father Herman Scearce, WWII Veteran. She married Lewis C. Megginson, Jr., (deceased), her husband of 53 years, and enjoyed living in northern Virginia while he finished his military service. The two settled in Portsmouth, raising their children Cheryl (Brock) and son Keith. In retirement, they traveled the craft show circuit as juried basket makers and enjoyed meeting customers and other artisans who shared their life stories.

   Carolyn was a devoted gardener and herbalist. She was an excellent cook and was generous with recipes. She adored her grandchildren, Michelle Trueblood (Josh) and Clayton “Clay” Brock (deceased). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Caleb Trueblood, and Camden and Callie Brock.

   Carolyn will be missed by her daughter-in-law Lynn Bowersox-Megginson, sister-in-law, Carol Imus, nephews, nieces and dear friends, Carolyn and Patsy.

   Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society as Carolyn was a 41 year breast cancer survivor.

   Rest in peace Mom, you will forever be in our hearts and memories.
