Carolyn Jane Gray Jernigan

   Carolyn Jane Gray Jernigan, 82, of 820 US Hwy 13 North, Gates, NC, died Sunday, December 22, 2019, in her home.

   Mrs. Jernigan was born in Franklin, Virginia, on October 23, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Bennie Charles and Minnie Story Gray. A homemaker, she had worked for many years at Woody’s Used Cars in Chesapeake, VA, and had also worked locally at Tar Heel Barbecue, The Creek Stop, and The Jenkin’s House. In earlier years she attended Reynoldson Baptist Church, and was a member of the Gates County Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary and the Country Squares Square Dancing Club.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, B.C., Eppa, Raymond, and Bobby Gray.

   Surviving are her special friend of 10 years, Mr. Shirley Foster of Franklin; four sons, Alan Jernigan, Tony Jernigan and wife, April, and Jay Jernigan and wife, Trisha, all of Gates, and Larry Jernigan and wife, Peggy, of Gatesville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A gathering for family and friends will be held Friday, December 27^th, from 1 to 2 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. A private graveside committal service will be held in the Jernigan Family Cemetery at a later date.
