Carol Brown Wyatt

Carol Elliott Brown Wyatt, 77, of Henderson, NC, died Sunday, July 17, 2022 in Duke Regional Hospital, Durham.

Mrs. Wyatt was born in Suffolk, Virginia on May 25, 1945 and was raised in Gates County by her parents, the late William Emmett Brown, Sr. and Helen Chaney Brown. With her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Chaney Brown Jordan; and her brother, William E. “Bill” Brown, Jr.

Carol married her high school sweetheart, Jim Kiezel Wyatt, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 4, 2020 after 54 years of marriage. She spent many hours on the water with her husband and loved a long boat ride, whether on Kerr Lake or on the Currituck Sound where the family had a vacation home. They raised their sons, Jimmy and Mitch, who provided them with two loving and supporting daughters-in-law that they loved very much. And then the grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey, and Camden!! They were the light of her life and always made her smile. Her faithful canine companions, Gracie and Gus were long-time friends who were by her side hours on end as she read on the porch.

Carol wanted to be remembered for her ability to talk to everyone, make friends with total strangers, or for her generosity of often giving friends and family her water color art or her knitted blankets and servers. She loved her yard and flowers and often shared her beautiful and fragrant gardenias and peonies. At a time in life where others might consider slowing down, she was always taking art classes with friends, working in the yard, doing things with the grandkids, organizing “girl trips” and working as a volunteer.

A retired Chemist with Revlon Corporation in Oxford, she attended The First Baptist Church of Henderson. Carol loved her friends and going to church. Her happiest and proudest moments she found were as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Surviving are two sons, Jim Kiezel Wyatt, III and wife, Stephanie, of Cary and William Mitchell Wyatt and wife, Elizabeth, of Henderson; and three grandchildren, Tyler Gibson Wyatt, Lindsey Sheridan Wyatt, and Camden Elizabeth Wyatt.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, July 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. in The First Baptist Church of Henderson, 205 West Winder Street, and will be conducted by pastor, The Rev. Dr. Ron Cava. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.

The burial will follow later that afternoon at 5:00 p.m. when she will be placed at rest with her husband on the family plot in the Gatesville Cemetery at the corner of High and Court Streets in Gatesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The First Baptist Church, 205 West Winder Street, PO Box 75, Henderson, North Carolina, 27536.
