Carl Nixon Barber

   Carl Nixon Barber, 80, of 5367 Sir Barton Drive, Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018.

   Mr. Barber was born in Perquimans County, NC on September 11, 1938, and was the son of the late James Harry and Mary Elizabeth Nixon Barber. A retired Industrial Salesman, he was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church, and had served in the Virginia Army National Guard for 32 years where he attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Lee Corprew Barber; and by his brothers, James Robert Barber and Kenneth Ray Barber.

   Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Barber of Virginia Beach; two sons, Michael Barber and wife, Kathy, of Hampton, and Kenneth Barber and wife, Patricia, of Williamsburg; and five grandchildren, Allison Barber, Olivia Rosas-Barber, Emily Rosas-Barber, Julian Rosas-Barber, and Liliana Rosas-Barber.

   A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nixon Family Cemetery in the Rocky Hock community of Chowan County, NC.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Ste. 102, Norfolk, VA 23502-4107, or online at www.alz.org/seva.
