Caleb E. "Lucky" Harris, Sr.

 Caleb E. “Lucky” Harris, Sr., 90, of 679 Glade Road, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, in his home where he was being cared for by family.

 Mr. Harris was born in Pasquotank County on April 3, 1934, and was the son of the late Charles Henry and Lenora Bailey Casey Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Harris.

 Retired as an insurance agent with Pilot Life Insurance, in earlier years he had been employed as a deputy with the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Department. A member of Corinth Baptist Church and the Albemarle Horse and Pony Club where he had served as its president, he was passionate about horses and loved going to rodeos. He was an Army veteran.

 Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Shirley Cooper Harris; a daughter, Darlene Wharton of Elizabeth City; a son, Caleb E. “Lucky” Harris, Jr. (Cheryl) of Winder, GA; four grandchildren, Derrick Meads, Chasity Meads (Earlie Byrum), Zack Harris (Tomi), and Mallory Johnson (Trent); and three great-grandchildren, Blaine Byrum, and Eli and Eva Harris.

 In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the residence.
