Bonnie Balentine Umphlett

   Bonnie Lee Balentine Umphlett, 84, of 65 Adams Swamp Road, Corapeake, NC, died Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA.

   Mrs. Umphlett was born in Richland County, SC on October 11, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Verna Pauline Phillips Balentine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Daniel “Danny” Holley. A homemaker, she was Pentecostal by faith.

   Surviving is her husband of over 46 years, Willie B. Umphlett, Jr.; two daughters, Louise Secrest (husband, Warren) of Knoxville, TN, and Becky Guetzlaff (husband, John) of Russellville, AR; a son, Robert Aaron Holley (wife, Kathy) of WV; a sister, Ann Frick, and a brother, Curtis Lee Balentine, both of SC. Also surviving are Willie’s children, Teresa Kay Ely of Corapeake, Eddie Umphlett (wife, Sherry) of Chesapeake, VA, Cynthia Ann Umphlett of Suffolk, VA, and Lisa McCartney of Portsmouth, VA. Together Bonnie and Willie shared 26 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

   A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Savage’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, 939 Willeyton Road, Gates, NC.
