Bobby Ray Clifton

   Bobby Ray Clifton, 70, of 4619 Pea Ridge Road, Roper, NC, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018, in his home where he was surrounded by his family.

   Mr. Clifton was born in Chowan County on October 18, 1948, and was the son of the late Edward Ray and Mable Sue Holton Clifton. Retired from the NC Dept. of Transportation, he was a member of Scuppernong Church of Christ.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth E. Spruill.

   Surviving are his wife of over 43 years, Cynthia Elmore Clifton; two daughters, Susan C. Spruill and Alison C. Clark (Derrick), and a son, Robert R. Clifton (Tina), all of Roper; a sister, Carolyn C. Rogers of Jamesville; a brother, Norman W. Clifton of Roper; six grandchildren, Zachary and Kendra Spruill, Wyatt, Damon, and Jaxon Clark, and Mason Clifton; three step-grandchildren, Brock, Tiffany, and Autumn Clifton; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Pastor Don Phelps. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation in the funeral home immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
