   Robert Earl “Bobby” Ashley, Sr., 80, of 204 E. Queen Street, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, February 2, 2020, in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville.

   Mr. Ashley was born in Chowan County on September 2, 1939, and was the son of the late Murray D. and Virginia Phipps Ashley. Retired from Union Camp/International Paper after 38 years, he then worked with the Town of Edenton for 13 years as a Dock Master at the waterfront park. He was a member of Edenton Baptist Church.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann Hart.

   Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Virginia Jones “Ginny” Ashley; his son, R.E. “Bobby” Ashley, Jr., wife Heidi, and their son Chaz, of Asheville; and Patricia’s children and their families, Ginna Forward and her son, Damien; and Adam Kephart, his fiancé Dana, and their son, Liam. Also surviving is a son-in-law, Bill Hart of Garner, and his children, Katie Oltman and husband, Matt, and Billy Hart.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. David Brooks. The burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and all other times at the residence.
