Betty Lou Eason Riddick, 87, formerly of the Sandy Cross community, Hobbsville, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, in Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Riddick was born in Smithfield, Virginia, on May 26, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Tom and Nettie Saunders Eason. In earlier years she had worked at IXL Cabinets in Elizabeth City, and later as a nursing assistant with Morgan’s Rest Home in Hertford. She was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forbes McCotter Riddick; sisters, Mildred Weeks, Louise Stallings, Margie Gregory, and Lydia Eason; and by a brother, Tommy Horace Eason.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela R. Spear of Edenton; five sons, Timothy F. Riddick (Rachel) of Smithfield, VA, Monty G. Riddick (Lisa) of Conway, Horace Ray Riddick and Marty G. Riddick, both of Hobbsville, and Mark G. Riddick (Barbara) of Shiloh; two sisters, Lorraine E. Casper of Belvidere and Gracie Lee Riddick of Hobbsville; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Sandy Cross Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Gary Nistler. A private burial will be in the Eason Family Cemetery near the church. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service, and all other times at Pam’s home, 319 Oneida Trail, Edenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels Senior Nutrition Program, in care of The Albemarle Commission, 512 South Church Street, Hertford, NC 27944.
