Bernie Davis

   Bernard Blanchard “Bernie” Davis, 80, of 211 Hawthorne Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, June 3, 2023 in his home where he was cared for by his family.

   Mr. Davis was born in Chowan County on May 5, 1943, and was the son of the late C.H. and Helen Blanchard Davis. Retired from George C. Moore Company where he was the Maintenance Supervisor, he was a member of Open Door Church, was active in the Kairos Ministry, and enjoyed the fellowship of the Pembroke Bass Club.

   Surviving is his wife of nearly 61 years, Mary Bass Davis; their children, Pam Davis Miller of Edenton and Bernard Scott Davis (wife, Wendy) of Roper; his sister, Eleanor Rochelle Broyles (husband, Don) of Elizabeth City; his brother, Charles M. Davis (wife, Nell) of Tyner; three grandchildren, Michaela Davenport (husband, Hunter), Chanin Davis (wife, Summer) and Courtney Gerth (husband, Chris); and two great-granddaughters, Callie Miller and Chloe Gerth.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Pastors Ricky Bishop and Gary Williams. The burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
