Becky Powell

   Rebecca Aswell “Becky” Powell, 78, of 215 Baker Street, Ahoskie, NC, died Thursday, June 2, 2022 in ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan.

   Mrs. Powell was born in Colerain on August 31, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Daniel V. “Dick” Aswell and Louise Rhea Aswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Callis.

   Retired as an Administrative Assistant with the Hertford County Public School System, she was a faithful member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

   Surviving is her husband, Thomas A. “Tommy” Powell, III; two sons, Joe Fox (wife, Paula) of Washington, NC and Brandon Vaughan of Ahoskie; five grandchildren, Brek Fox, Kristen Fox, Daniel Steele (wife, Kaitlyn), Andrew Steele (wife, Alexis) and Rebecca Byers (husband, Patrick); and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Barbara Blowe of Ahoskie; and brother, Robert Aswell (wife, Sue) of Reidsville.

   A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, June 11^th at 3:00 p.m. in Holly Springs Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Ange. A private burial will be at a later time in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.
