Barbara Smith Hendrix

   Barbara Smith Hendrix, 72, of 422 Cannons Ferry Road, passed away on Sunday, April 10^th, 2022 in her home in Tyner, NC.

   She was born in Portsmouth, VA on March 26^th, 1950, to James Thomas Smith and Gladys Pearl Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Shirley Marshall, Frances Shephard Rogers and Gladys “Sister” Garris and brothers Daniel, Frank, Richard and Bobby Smith.

   Surviving her is her husband, Bruce Hendrix Sr., and their children, Grace Hendrix, Bruce Hendrix, Jr. (wife, Alison Terry Hendrix, and their daughter, Molly) and Benjamin Hendrix (wife Jessica Baker Hendrix and their daughter, Katie). Also surviving are sisters, Betty Weth, Mary Smith, Ellen Hollowell and brothers, Bill Smith and Raymond Smith (Bea).

   Barbara was a clever homemaker with a very strong spirit. She was passionate about her family. She was a jokester who dearly loved to laugh and to tease, but playing games was something she took very seriously, and she could not lose when playing cards! Fishing, crabbing, and travelling to the mountains and to the beach were some of her favorite times and some of her family’s favorite memories.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 14^th at 3:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Minister Bob Brock.
