Barbara Parks Bunch

   Barbara Ann Parks Bunch, 86, of 1361 NC 137, died Sunday, December 19, 2021, in her home that she shared with her daughter.

   Mrs. Bunch was born in Chowan County on September 5, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Matthew E. and Retha Della Bunch Parks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Lee “Sonny” Bunch; her son, William “Buddy” Bunch; and by her brothers, Dearl, Eddie, and Ray Parks.

   For many years Mrs. Bunch was employed in production with Supak Garment Company, and later after losing her husband to cancer, was led to pursue a career as a caregiver, providing in home care to the elderly and sick. Raised in the fellowship of Warwick Swamp Baptist Church, later she and her husband joined Sandy Cross Baptist, both in Hobbsville, and lastly after moving to live in Eure, she attended Cool Spring Baptist Church just down the road from her home.

   Surviving is her daughter, Wanda Bunch Knight; her daughter-in-law, Karen Utt (husband, Dennis) of Sunbury; her sister, Mary Ellen Casper of Hobbsville; two granddaughters, Stacy Barham (husband, Chris) and Kelly Bright (husband, Rob); and four great-grandchildren, Emma and Evie Bright, and William “Will” and Elizabeth “Liz” Barham.

    A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 9th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by Scott Taylor, Chaplain, Albemarle Hospice. A private burial will be at a later date.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to one’s favorite charity.
