Audrey Jackson Bunch

   Audrey Jackson Bunch, 87, of 150 Smith Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, December 21, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Bailey where she had been living since her health began declining.

   Mrs. Bunch was born in Chowan County on February 11, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Colon Stonewall Jackson Sr. and Pearl Futrell Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Ray Bunch; and by her brother, Colon S. Jackson, Jr.

   Mrs. Bunch went to work in 1954 at was then known as The Hertford Banking Company. Working there for 50 years she saw the many mergers and acquisitions in the industry, and when she retired it was known as RBC Bank. She was a faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, the Faye Ober Sunday School Class and the Ella Mae Perry Group of the Women’s Missionary Union. Other enjoyments included her membership in the LOVE Group, a community group of women who contribute their time and efforts in finding ways to help others.

   Surviving are her children, Melissa Bunch Shear (husband, Drew) of Bailey and Kenneth Ray “Ken” Bunch of Edenton; her grandchildren, Wyatt Bunch (wife, Rebecca), Ryan Bunch, Danni Alston Manning (husband, Phillip), Andrew Shear, Jr. and Kyle Shear (wife, Celeste); and great-grandchildren, J.D. Manning, Briar Ray Manning, Avery Shear, Emma Shear, Jackson Deans, Amilya Powell, and Lainey Brockway.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28th, at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Matt Dupuy, and by her son-in-law, Andrew Shear. The burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton.
