Annie White Jethro

   Annie Lee White Jethro passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019.

   Born in Chowan County on October 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Inez Boyce White. On December 20, 1952, she married Dallas Lee Jethro, Jr., who preceded her in death on June 3, 2015, after 63 years of marriage. Together they resided 52 years on their beloved Whitehouse Farm on Drummonds Point Road.

   Mrs. Jethro definitely had a green thumb and spent most of her time outdoors mowing their beautiful yard and tending to her many flowers and shrubs. She also enjoyed growing and canning her own vegetables and preparing wonderful meals for the family. Every dish was prepared from memory, written recipes were not needed. Her delicious sweet tea and mashed potatoes were true favorites at all family gatherings.

   Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl West and husband, Lionel, of Jamesville; grandson, Brandon West of Jamesville; granddaughter, Morgan Potts and husband, Jason, of Edenton; and great-granddaughter, Anais White of Edenton. Also surviving is a special niece, Inez Perry Chappell, and other extended family members.

   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David Jethro; granddaughter, Taylor Jethro; sister, Maomi White Perry; and brother, Leonard T. White.

   A private service was held by the family.
