Anita Sexton Riddick

 Anita Louise Sexton Riddick, 79, of Edenton, NC, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, in Laurel Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Elizabeth City.

 Mrs. Riddick was born in Chowan County on May 3, 1945, and was the daughter of the late William A. and Maybelle Parks Sexton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Dianthia Morrow and Mary Smith.

 A retired hairdresser, she co-owned and operated Edenton Hair Designers for many years. She was a former member of Edenton Baptist Church and more recently enjoyed membership in Countryside Church of Christ. An avid animal lover, she especially loved her dogs.

 Surviving is her husband of nearly 39 years, James Roy Riddick, Jr.; her daughter, Donna Ashley Copeland of Edenton; two brothers, Douglas Sexton of Beavercreek, OH and Frederick Sexton of Raleigh; a grandson, Taylor Copeland (Alexandra); and three great-grandchildren, Jayce, Brooklyn, and Isabella.

 Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Ministers Daniel Davenport and Bob Brock. The burial will follow in the Gatesville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
