Angela Sanford Woodward

    Angela Sanford “Angie” Woodward, 50, of Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

   Angela was born on in Prince George’s County, MD on September 3, 1973 to the late Frances M. Montgomery. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her father, Ricky Portzen, her grandmother, Agnes Cheri, and her half-brother, Gary Sanford.

   Left on Earth to cherish her memory is her husband and best friend of 30 years, Kevin Woodward; two daughters, Samantha Haering (Steve) and Toni Woodward (Dillon); her four grandchildren, Ricky, Amelia, Sophia, and Chase; her two very close cousins that she called her brothers; J.D. Shoemaker and Donny Shoemaker, and their mother, Joanie Joans (Tom); along with many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

   The love for her grandchildren will forever be remembered. Angie spent most of her years raising her two girls. She found joy in visiting with family, talking to her cousins, baking, putting puzzles together, watching her favorite childhood cartoons, and decorating for Christmas.

   A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m. in Snug Harbor Community Church, Hertford. A private service will also be held for family in Maryland at a later date.

   The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to Perquimans EMS, Dr. Lowry and staff at ECU Health Chowan Hospital, the physicians and staff at ECU Health Medical Center, and to those with Honorbridge Organ Donation, for the care provided to Angie.
