Alethea A. Hargrove

   Alethea Ann Allen Hargrove, 90, of 118 Emperor Landing Road, Edenton, NC died Thursday, May 2, 2024, in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

   Mrs. Hargrove was born in Watertown, New York on October 22, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Murray L. and Irene Joyner Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherie H. Lemaster; her sister, Sheila Allen; and by her brother, Wayne Allen.

   A Registered Nurse, she had worked in hospitals, in doctor’s offices, and as a public health nurse in the Lumberton, NC health department. Since moving to Edenton, she had attended Edenton United Methodist Church.

   Surviving is her husband, of nearly 69 years, the Rev. Robert H. Hargrove; their children, Melanie Ann Ballenger (husband, Ricky) of Castle Hayne, and Charlene H. Watson and Robert Allen Hargrove (wife, Janet), both of Edenton; five grandchildren, Michael Floyd, Keri Jackson Thrasher, Autumn Watson, Ashley Crowe, and Elizabeth Lemaster; and seven great-grandchildren.

   In accordance with her wishes, a private service is planned.
