Albert Kenneth Myers, Sr.

   Albert Kenneth Myers, Sr., 91, of Hertford, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mr. Myers was born in Princess Anne, VA on May 8, 1932, and was the son of the late Lewis Omar, Sr. and Nora Frances Barnes Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Geraldine Louise Munden Myers and Minnie Elliott “Marie” Ayscue-Myers, his son, Albert K. Myers, Jr., a sister, Barbara Scott, and by brothers, Edward, Freddy, and Lewis Jr.

   Retired as a manager from Meyers & Tabakin Furniture Company following 23 years of employment, he had formerly enjoyed fellowship in Fountain of Life Church.

   Surviving is his daughter, Susan Wyatt (Tony) of Hertford; two sisters, Betty McLendon of Hertford and Debbie Pryor of Maine; a brother, Elvin “E.T.” Myers of Hertford; four grandchildren, Albert Kenneth Myers, III, Aaron Kenneth Blake, Corinne Geri Brinkley, and Hollie Agnes Blake; and 12 great-grandchildren.

   A celebration of his life will be held Monday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by The Rev. Don Carter. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Riverside Memorial Park, 1000 E. Indian River Road, Norfolk, VA.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, P.O. Box 96105, Washington, DC 20090-6105.
