Alan Culver Rackliffe, 85, of 223 Coree Trail, Edenton, NC, died early Thursday morning, September 8, 2022 in his home.
Mr. Rackliffe was born in Providence, RI on February 19, 1937, and was the son of the late Phillip T. and Mary Lappan Rackliffe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Neal Rackliffe (Marie), and a step-son, George E. Brickhouse, Jr.
A retired driver with Harrell Medical Transport, he had also worked as a jailer with the Chowan County Jail, and as a Corrections Officer with the Albemarle District Jail. He had served in the United States Navy, and was devoted to his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Edenton.
Devoted to his family, he is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Mildred Ann Rackliffe; two daughters, Karen Orris (John) and Dianne Rackliffe; two step-children, Sherry Bain (Kenny, deceased) and James Brickhouse; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A service in celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, September 14th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. The burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home or all other times at the residence.
