Adrienne Capps Wimmer

   Adrienne Capps Wimmer, 43, of Shawboro, NC, a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and coach, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

   Born in Norfolk, VA on July 8, 1980, Adrienne was the daughter of Louise Hoskins “Lou” Capps of Currituck and the late Dr. William Rodney “Ronnie” Capps. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Aaron Coke Capps.

   Retired as a critical care paramedic in Dare County, Adrienne dedicated her free time to being with her family and to coaching county, school, and travel volleyball (Chesapeake, VA). Adrienne lived a full life from being a dedicated student, an athlete during high school, to finding a passion for helping others in both her career as a paramedic and as a volleyball coach. She enjoyed shopping with her girls, being on the golf course with her husband, and strategizing on how to become a better coach for her team. Adrienne was recently presented with the 2023 MD/AAU Outstanding Coaches Award in volleyball. Throughout her life she possessed values of faith, hard work, and compassion that will not be forgotten. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

   Surviving along with her mother is her husband, Richard Lee “Rick” Wimmer, Jr.; two daughters, Alexis Griffin and her husband, John Dylan Griffin, and Kaylie West and her husband, Caleb West; a bonus son, Jeremy Wimmer; a special niece, Gracey Capps, and nephew, Barron Capps; as well as her in-laws, Rick, Sr. and Kathy Wimmer.

   Friends may visit with the family Thursday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Providence Baptist Church, 765 Shawboro Road, Shawboro, and all other times at her mother’s home, 131 Sound Shore Drive, Currituck. A private graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Williamston.
