Aithes Denver “A.D.” Lowman, SCPO, US Navy Ret., 92, of Horton Lane, Eure, NC, died Saturday, September 7, 2019, in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mr. Lowman was born in Burke County on July 25, 1927, and was the son of the late Alvin Lester and Annie Mae Lowman. A retired Senior Chief Petty Officer, he served for 30 years in the United States Navy, and was a veteran of World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Abee Lowman; his son, Steven Denver Lowman; his sister, Ruth Reed; and brothers, Leland, Hubert, and Lamar Lowman.
Surviving are his daughter, Sherrie Lynn Lowman Tallent and husband, Bobby, of Morganton; two grandchildren, Scotty and Brandon, and two great-grandchildren, Stormie and Noah; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Connelly Springs, NC. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory in Valdese and with Miller Funeral Home in Gatesville.
