Iris Harrell Mills

Iris Harrell Mills 93 of 914 North Broad Street died Thursday March 22 2012 in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Vidant Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Mills was born in Bertie County and was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Ida Hawkins Harrell. A retired sales clerk with CVS Drugs she was a member of Edenton Baptist Church a member and past president of the American Legion Post 40 Ladies Auxiliary and was an avid Edenton Steamer fan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Edmond Monk Mills. Surviving are her daughter Judy Mills Ross and husband Billy of Virginia Beach; her son Allen Mills and wife Claire of Edenton; four grandchildren Melanie Ross Johnson and husband Keith of Chesapeake Stephen Ross of Virginia Beach Katie Mills Klein and husband Liam of Atlanta GA and Jim Mills of Edenton; and four great-grandchildren Brittany and Taylor Johnson and Madisyn and McKenzie Ross. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. David Brooks. Immediately following the church service friends are invited to join the family at Allen and Claires home 505 Kimberly Drive. A private burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory 735 Virginia Road Edenton handling arrangements.
