Jean Newbold Griffin

Jean Newbold Griffin 87 of 105 S. Front Street Hertford NC passed away Monday May 14 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital Edenton. Mrs. Griffin was born in Perquimans County on Sept. 12 1924 and was the daughter of the late John Henry and Neta White Newbold. A homemaker and an artist she was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was baptized confirmed married and will be buried in her beloved church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Betty McClure and a sister Nita Newbold Brown. She will be remembered for her love of life and joy of living. She will be in our hearts forever. Surviving are her husband of 69 years William Edward Griffin; two daughters Peggy Pennington of Ketchikan AK and Susie Montague of Hertford; a son Henry Newbold Griffin of Manteo; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. John H. Bonner III. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the parish hall immediately following the services on Friday.
