J.Z. “Mike” Felton

J.Z. Mike Felton 87 of 77 Hackley Road died Friday March 2 2012 in his home. Mr. Felton was born in Gates County and was the son of the late Z.S. and Jana Greene Felton. Retired after 40 years with Planters Peanuts in Suffolk VA he was a lifelong member of Eure Christian Church and a member of both the Rays Beach and Nixons Ditch Fishing Clubs. Surviving are his wife of 62 years Alva Askew Felton; two daughters Janice F. Outland and husband Felton of Sunbury and Luanne F. Barnes of Gates; a sister Mary Ellen Eure and a brother Elmore Felton both of Eure; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. in Eure Christian Church by the Revs. Michael Brinkley and Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home Gatesville in charge of arrangements. Friends may join the family Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home on Monday in the church social hall following services and all other times at the residence.
