Sam Lloyd Sawyer

Sam Lloyd Sawyer 90 of Emperor Landing Road died Wednesday March 14 2012 at his home. Mr. Sawyer was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Tim Lloyd and Lena Copeland Sawyer. A retired painting contractor he was a member of Countryside Church of Christ and had served in the US Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Matilda Wright Sawyer. Surviving are a daughter Judy Sawyer Dean and husband Mike; three sons Andrew J. Jack Sawyer and wife Diann Ronnie L. Sawyer and wife Harriet and Alan K. Sawyer all of Edenton; a brother Herman Sawyer of Spiveys Corner NC; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory 735 Virginia Road Edenton by Minister Leslie Carico. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service and all other times at the home of Judy and Mike Dean 100 Emperor Landing Road Edenton.
