Sidney Douglas Stallings 57 of 1786 Sandy Cross Road died Saturday March 17 2012 in his home. Doug was born in Pasquotank County and was the son of Sidney and Gladys Chappell Stallings of Belvidere. The owner and operator of Wood 'n Things Cabinet Shop he was also a poultry farmer for Perdue. An active member of Hertford United Methodist Church he also enjoyed membership in the Parkville Ruritan Club. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 23 years Dianne White Stallings; his daughter Jovan Stallings Ward and husband Quincy; his step-son Tim Phelps and wife Tracey all of Belvidere; his sister Dianne S. Riddick of Suffolk VA; four grandchildren Wesley Douglas Ward Matthew Edward Ward Jacob Sam Godfrey and Carly Jeanne Phelps all of Belvidere; and his mother-in-law Jeanne White of Hertford. He was preceded in death by an infant niece. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Hertford United Methodist Church by the Revs. Larry Bowden and Jon Strother. Burial will follow in Up River Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home 1125 Harvey Point Road Hertford and all other times at the residence.
