Waverly Lee Hollowell

Waverly Lee Hollowell 83 of 1348 NC 32 South died Saturday March 10 2012 in his home. Mr. Hollowell was born in Gates County and was the son of the late Spurgeon Lee and Pauline Blanchard Hollowell. A retired teacher he taught carpentry and masonry at Gates County High School for 23 years and prior to that worked with his father in the home construction business. A member of Hobbsville Baptist Church and its Adult Choir he served as a Deacon was chairman of the Cemetery Committee and also enjoyed membership in the Gates County Lions Club and the Hobbsville Volunteer Fire Dept. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 57 years Frances Byrum Hollowell. Surviving are his daughter Joy H. Jackson and husband Johnny of Cary; his son Dennis R. Hollowell and wife Patricia of Erwin; his brother Thomas Van Hollowell of Aiken SC; five grandchildren Shelley (Matt) Shannon (Mark) Colby (Amy) Kelly (Jason) and Adrienne; and five great-grandchildren Tyler Briceson Reese Avery and Jackson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Hobbsville Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Dannelly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home 304 Main Street Gatesville and other times at the residence.
