Clarence Truman Joyner 92 of Paradise Road and a former resident of both Belvidere NC and Franklin VA died Tuesday April 3 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Mr. Joyner was born in Norfolk VA and was the son of the late Clarence Haywood and Grace Truman Stephenson Joyner. A retired Automotive Transportation Specialist from Naval Air Station Norfolk he was a civil service employee for nearly 30 years. An Army veteran of World War II he had served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was most proud of his service under Gen. George S. Patton. A life-long Baptist Mr. Joyner was active and served as a deacon in churches located in the communities in which he lived and most recently was a faithful member of Ballards Bridge Baptist Church in Tyner. A former member of both the Creeds Ruritan Club and the Aragona Moose Lodge #1198 in Virginia Beach he also may be remembered for his part-time employment at Byrums Hardware Company in Edenton during his retirement years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Trudy J. Vosch. Surviving are his wife of 72 years Elizabeth Peggy Vellines Joyner; a daughter Deborah J. Siano and husband William of Tyner; two sons Ron Joyner Sr. and wife Judy of Virginia Beach and David Joyner and wife Joyce of Franklin; 11 grandchildren Donna Snow (Nolan) and Gina Wolfe (Russ) both of Missoula MT Linda Smith (Ron) of West Jordan UT Ron Joyner Jr. (Dawn) of Belvidere Theresa Shuck (Mike) Billy Joyner and Stephanie Joyner all of Virginia Beach Jason Joyner (Dianne) of Franklin Anthony Siano (Bonnie) of Youngsville NC Angela Siano Noel (Marc) of Quincy WA and Joseph Siano (Dana) of Chesterfield VA; 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd Norfolk VA and will be officiated by the Rev. Howard Vinson. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory 735 Virginia Road Edenton.
