M. Talmadge Byrum

Marvin Talmadge Byrum 75 of 709 W. Grubb Street Hertford NC died Monday May 14 2012 in Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation Hertford. Mr. Byrum was born in Chowan County and was the son of Irene Chappell Byrum of Hertford and the late Thomas Preston Byrum. Employed for many years at Byrum Furniture Company he had also worked as a security guard with the US Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City. He was a member of Hertford Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of nearly 27 years Judy Linville Byrum; two daughters Tammy Crawford and husband Jim of Kennesaw GA and Wendy Byrum of Sevierville TN; a step-daughter Jenny Appleton Harris and husband Miles of Elizabeth City; a step-son Gene Appleton Jr. and wife Penny of Wesley Chapel FL; three sisters Shirley B. Bunch of Edenton Lois B. Baker of Clayton and Brenda B. Winslow of Hertford; two grandchildren Taylor Crawford and Megan Old and two step-grandchildren Jordan Appleton and Marissa Kimbrough. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery by the Rev. H. Gene Boyce. Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral and Cremation Providers 1125 Harvey Point Road Hertford is assisting the family with arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
