Margaret Ann Somers Peggy Kanehann 73 of Hertford NC passed away Thursday May 17 2012 in her home. Peggy was born on December 15 1938 in Springfield OH to the late Charles and Doris Stokes Somers. She attended Chaminade-Julienne High School in Dayton and upon graduation entered The Dayton Art Institute and the University of Dayton majoring in Fine Arts. While Impressionist painting and interior design were her passions she became a successful advertising copywriter and model-hostess at WHIO-TV. She met Captain Joseph Kanehann at an Officers Ball at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. They were married at Holy Angels Church in 1958. After relocating to New York City she continued her modeling career and appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers including Good Housekeeping and The New York Times. She was an active member in the Junior League and worked extensively with underprivileged children teaching art and design. In 1986 Peggy became a talent agent with New World Artists Talent Agency in Los Angeles and opened Malibu Entertainment Group Inc. an international film and television finance and production company. While she devoted much of her time and energy raising three children she also enjoyed horseback riding and sculpture. Surviving are her husband of 54 years Joseph; three children Mary Beth Patrick and David; and a grandson Justin. A celebration of her life will be held Friday May 25 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Albemarle Plantation Clubhouse.
