Richard Thomas “Rickie” Goodwin

Richard Thomas Rickie Goodwin 58 of 2145 Virginia Road died Friday March 23 2012 in his home. Rickie was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Carlton W. and Viola Byrum Goodwin. A farmer truck driver and landscape developer he had also formerly worked with C.A. Perry & Son. A member of Center Hill Baptist Church and a retired member of the Center Hill-Crossroads Volunteer Fire Dept. he was an avid horseman and enjoyed the great outdoors. Surviving are two sisters Vickie G. Blanchard and husband Craig of Tyner and Carleen Goodwin and friend Sandy Rose of Rocky Mount; his nieces Mandy Jordan and Kristie Williams her husband David and their daughter Kristen; and nephew Tony Jordan and his son Drew. A memorial service will be held Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Center Hill Baptist Church by the Revs. Russell Blanchard and Don English. Friends may join the family in the Center Hill Church Community Bldg. immediately following the service on Monday night and all other times at Vickie and Craigs home 609 Center Hill Road Tyner. A graveside service will be held in the Byrum Family Cemetery on Happy Home Road on Wed. at 4:00 p.m. Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to either Center Hill Baptist Church or the Center Hill-Crossroads Volunteer Fire Dept. both in Tyner NC 27980.
