Sherland Ray Forehand

Sherland Ray "Skinny" Forehand, 75, of 1301 Macedonia Road, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Forehand was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Curtis Oliver and Elsie Dail Forehand. A retired long-distance driver with both L.C. Monds Truck Line and C.A. Perry & Son, he was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and had served in the NC National Guard. Surviving are his wife, Melba Warren Forehand; a daughter, Tamely Tyson of Moyock; three sons, Stephen Forehand of Elizabeth City, Gregory Forehand and wife Lyndi of Reidsville, and Jeffrey Forehand of Edenton, a sister, Darlene Webster of Elizabeth City; two brothers, Carl Forehand and Donald Forehand, both of Edenton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are Melba's sons and their families, Tony Jackson and wife Kim of Raleigh, Jeff Jackson of Gastonia, Mark Jackson of New Orleans, LA, and Sean Jackson and wife Lisa of Cary. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
