Kathleen Barrow Skiles, of 301 E. King Street, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, just two days after celebrating her 100th birthday. Mrs. Skiles was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Theophilous and Lula Clara Daniels Barrow. The former co-owner of Barrow Bottling Works, Inc., she was a member of Edenton United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, and the Edenton Chapter #302, The Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Celia Belle Goodwin. Surviving are her daughter, Susan S. Rountree and husband Ronald of Edenton; her son, John T. "Bud" Skiles and wife Elizabeth of Stuart, FL; seven grandchildren, Chris Rountree and wife Julie, Kerry Skiles, Michael Skiles and wife Amanda, Kathryn Kaidy and husband Rob, Martha Smith and husband Jim, Susan Gates and husband Peter, and Jennifer Bryant and husband Bill; and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Edenton United Methodist Church. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
