Jesse Lee Hobbs, Sr., 45, of 126 Tipton St., Apt. 2, Erwin, TN, died Monday, July 2, 2012 in Washington County, TN as the result of an automobile accident. Mr. Hobbs was born in Portsmouth, VA and was the son of the late Rufus Philip Lee and Virginia Nixon Hobbs. A heavy equipment operator with Builders FirstSource in Piney Flats, TN, he was a member of Open Door Church in Edenton, NC and had served in the National Guard. Surviving are his son, Jesse Lee Hobbs, Jr. of Edenton; his fiancé, Jennifer Austin of Erwin; his brothers, Wallace Lee Hobbs of Horsham, PA and Phillip Lee Hobbs of Swansboro, NC; step-sons, Marty Bunch and Brian Bunch, both of Edenton; and a grandson, Jared Lee Hobbs. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Steve Mizell. A private burial will follow in the Hofler Family Cemetery in the Carter's community of Gates County. Friends may join the family Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the home of his son, 420 White Oak Drive, Edenton.
