Janie Edwards Midgett

Janie Edwards Midgett, of Edenton, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Midgett was born in Fort Stockton, TX and was the daughter of the late John and Florence Josephine Bonner Edwards. The retired manager of Shoe Show Dept. Store, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a member and past Worthy Matron of Edenton Chapter #302, The Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Midgett, Jr. Surviving are two sons, Steven B. Midgett and wife Annette of Pinetown and George W. Midgett, III of Edenton; two brothers, John Edwards of Denver, CO and Tom Edwards of Basstrap, TX; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Garry Mickey. A private inurnment will be held in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following services on Sunday.
