Preston McDonald Copeland

Preston McDonald Copeland, 85, of Goodwin Mill Road, Hertford, NC, died Friday, July 20, 2012 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mr. Copeland was born in Perquimans County and was the son of the late Basil and Sylvia Lamb Copeland. A retired truck driver with Weyerhauser, he was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Dail Copeland; two daughters, Karen C. Pritchard and husband David of Arcadia, FL and Teri C. Lemons and husband Charlie of Conover, NC; two sons, Scott Copeland of Roanoke, VA and Dale Copeland and wife Rochelle of Hertford; a step-daughter, Danna Ambrose of Hertford; two sisters, Shirley Elliott and Sylvia Wrae Morgan; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his best friend, "Snookie". Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. Burial with military honors will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
