William Clyde Spruill, Jr.

William Clyde Spruill, Jr., 87, of 9500 Newland Road, Creswell, NC died Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Chowan Rivers Nursing & Rehabilitation, Edenton. Mr. Spruill was born in Washington County, NC and was the son of the late William C., Sr. and Ivy Barnes Spruill. A retired self-employed mechanic, he was an Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post 391, the Creswell Volunteer Fire Dept., Lake Phelps Volunteer Fire Dept., and Philippi Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Ambrose Spruill. Surviving are two sons, William Clyde "Billy" Spruill, III and wife Cindy and Sandy J. Spruill and wife Carla, all of Creswell; a daughter, Barbara Grissom Spring of Carthage, NC; a brother, Curtis Ray Spruill of Creswell; and four grandchildren, Caroline Cross and husband Daniel of Blacksburg, VA, Jeffrey Spruill and wife Andrea of Hamilton, OH, Julia Spruill of Raleigh, and Thomas Spruill of Creswell. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Philippi Church of Christ by Glenn Brickhouse and Mark Wilmoth. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements.
