Eugene White

Everett Eugene White, 68, formerly resided in the home he built himself on Ivy Neck Road, Camden, and more recently of New Hope Road, Hertford, where he died, Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Mr. White was born in Pasquotank County and was the son of the late Everett Shelton and Olethia Bernice Kight White. The retired owner/operator of White's Well Drilling, he was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Voted "Most Intellectual" in his graduating class of 1962 from Camden County High School, he was also voted "Most Outstanding Student" of his college graduating class from Wilson County Technical Institute. He loved rock music, playing his guitar and pool, his 1957 Chevy, watching and recording movies, and working in his workshop. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Long Culpepper-White; two daughters, Cindy White Secrest and husband Will of Elizabeth City and April Michelle White of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister, Lola Mae White of Richmond, VA; and a grandson, Brady Everett Partain. Also surviving are Nancy's mother, Mary Lee Barclift of Hertford, which the family would like to thank for her support; her daughter, Melanie Vanscoy of Elizabeth City; and her two grandchildren, Blake Vanscoy and Chloe Condlin. Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City, by the Rev. Roland Cooper. Friends may join the family at the home of his daughter, Cindy Secrest, 1511 Penny Drive, Elizabeth City, following services on Friday. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is in charge of arrangements. Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray medical and other related expenses.
