Frank Moore, Jr.

Frank Moore, Jr., 94, of 922 Hwy. 37 North, Gates, NC, died Monday, August 27, 2012 in his home. Mr. Moore was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Roxie Evans Moore. A retired truck driver, he was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxie Moore, and by a son-in-law, Walter Brown, and by four brothers. Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Irene Bright Moore; two daughters, Louise Brown of Hobbsville and Faye Hollowell and husband Jim of Florence, SC; five sons, Eugene Moore and wife Mavis of Tyner, Gilbert Moore and wife Diana of Gatesville, Edward Moore and wife Alice of Sunbury, Shirley McKay Moore of Chester, VA and Michael Moore and wife Edith of Sunbury; a brother, William C. Moore of Virginia Beach, VA; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist by the Rev. Steve Hall. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence, or in the church social hall immediately following the service on Thursday.
