Thomas Hazel Eure, 75, of 263 White Hat Road, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Eure was born in Perquimans County and was the son of the late Gilbert Blount and Hattie Harrell Eure. Retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the US Air Force after having served for more than 20 years, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Later he was employed in civil service and retired from the US Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City. A member of Berea Church of Christ, he had also enjoyed membership in the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of The American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Kirby Eure, and three brothers, Gilbert, James William, and Daniel Eure. Surviving are his son, Darrell Wayne Eure of Benedict, MD; and two grandchildren, Hayley Lynn Eure and Craig Thomas Eure. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Berea Church of Christ by Ministers Phil Sutton and Dr. I. Kimble "Sonny" Furrow. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery with Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the graveside service on Saturday and all other times at the residence.
