Margaret Rountree "Patsy" Forehand, 77, of 84 Hill Lane Road, Eure, NC, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. Mrs. Forehand, the daughter of the late Ray and Lucy Perry Rountree, was born in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Eure shortly thereafter. After graduating from Gatesville High School in 1953, she met the love of her life, James R. Forehand, an Airman in the U.S. Air Force, got married, and traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Her husband retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sgt. after 22 and a half years of service and they moved back to Eure in 1969. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked outside the home as a former employee of Ahoskie Dept. Store, Greene's Meat Market, and Tar Heel Bar-B-Q. A faithful member of Eure Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the W.M.U. and the church's Prayer Circle, she also volunteered with Meals On Wheels. Patsy enjoyed poetry and had published her written works, "Poems You Can Understand". In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Anthony Ray Forehand and James R. Forehand, Jr., a sister, Juanita Riddick, and a brother, Cooper Rountree. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah F. Barrett and husband Cleve of Raleigh; two sons, Randolph M. Forehand and wife Anne of Suffolk, and Tommy E. Forehand and wife Debbie of Hobbsville; a daughter-in-law, Nina Rose Forehand of Windsor, NC; seven grandchildren, Chris Forehand and wife Amanda, Jamie Forehand and wife Lorna, Nicholas Forehand and wife Lorraine, Randy Forehand, Jr., Victoria Forehand, Cody Forehand, and James R. Forehand, III and wife Karen; eight great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Nina Rountree; a half-brother, Pat Rountree; nieces, Lou Davis and Sharon Riddick; nephews, Kenneth Ray Riddick and wife Sandra, Jerry Riddick, Scott Riddick, and Steve Moore and wife Mickey; and her special friend and companion, John Askew. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Eure Baptist Church by Dr. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
