Earline Morse Godfrey

Earline Morse "Teenie" Godfrey, 77, of Carolina House and formerly of Winslow Road, Hertford, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Godfrey was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Ernest Earl and Pauline Corbitt Morse. A homemaker, she was a member of both the New Hope Home Demonstration Club and the Museum of The Albemarle Guild where she had formerly served as president, and attended New Hope United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Godfrey. Surviving are her daughter, Sharon G. Meiggs and husband Garry of Camden; her son, Earl R. "Sonny" Godfrey of Hertford; four sisters, Mattie Wray M. Godfrey, Juanita M. Byrum, Dorothy M. Owens, and Faye M. Nixon, all of Hertford; a brother, William "Pete" Morse of Hertford; two grandchildren, Jason Corbitt Noblett and Rachel Sara-Earline Meiggs; and one great-grandson, Jason Corbitt Noblett, Jr. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday. A private burial will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City.
