June Collier-Savage

June Collier-Savage, 65, of 1640 Great Fork Road, Suffolk, VA, died Monday, October 8, 2012 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mrs. Savage was born in Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Thomas Marvin and Evelyn Joyner Collier. For many years she was employed with Lipton Tea in Suffolk, later received her LPN degree, and worked with Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin before retiring. A faithful member of Great Fork Baptist Church, its Friendship Bible Class and the W.M.U., she also enjoyed membership in the Whaleyville Ruritan Club. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Walter Thomas "Tommy" Savage, Jr.; her son, Lucas Blair Savage of the home; her daughter, Bethany Savage Riddick and husband Emory of Corapeake, NC; two sisters, Phyllis Byrum of Suffolk and Suzette Boyd of Wakefield; her mother-in-law, Rachel Savage of Gates, NC; and special family friends, Susan Ulrich and her daughter, Zoe Westerfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Great Fork Baptist Church by Dr. Donald Jones and the Rev. Jonathan Judy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
