Ethan Benjamin Jennings, 23, of 215 E. Inlet Circle, Hertford, NC, died Sunday, October 14, 2012. Ethan was born in Norfolk, VA and was the son of Mary Elizabeth Jordan Jennings and David Bates Jennings, both of Hertford. He was a graduate in 2008 of Perquimans HS who graduated with the 4th highest average of his senior class. Ethan was a member of the Hunter Safety Team and was an outstanding member of every event, culminating in his winning an Aggregate All-Around Championship for North East North Carolina in 2006 while competing against 320 of the top high school performers in North Carolina and had scored the highest overall combined score for all events. He led his high school team to set a new district championship record and the team was recognized as the 2004-2005 State Champions, a record that still stands today. Ethan was a second year student at Pitt Community College majoring in Electronics Engineering Technology. He had a 4.0 grade point average and made the Dean's List every semester during his attendance. Ethan also attended College of the Albemarle where he was on the President's list. He was a member of Chapel On The Sound. Preceding him in death was his maternal grandfather, Carroll W. Jordan, and paternal grandfather, John L. Jennings. Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Taylor Victoria Jennings of Hertford; a brother, Edward Oliver Jennings of Hertford; maternal grandmother, Doris Greer Jordan of Norfolk; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Jennings of Hertford; and many loved and cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in Chapel On The Sound by Pastor Ken Reis. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the home.
