John Richard Ludlam MSCM (SW), U.S. Navy Ret., 67, of 624 Whitehat Road, Hertford, NC, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 in his home. Mr. Ludlam was born in Laredo, TX and was the son of the late John Bunyan, Jr. and Helen Sims Ludlam. Retired from the U.S. Navy after 28 years of service, in more recent years he had enjoyed membership in both Countryside Church of Christ and the Forestburg Ruritan Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, John Bradford Ludlam. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Carol Ludlam; a daughter, Victoria K. Davidson; two step-daughters, Cheryl Muegge and Valeri Dalton; a step-son, Ted Muegge, all of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Dorothy Friedman and Elizabeth Ann Smith; two brothers, Jimmy and James Ricky Ludlam, all of Eufaula, AL; two grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home, 100 E. Fair St., Eufaula. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Eufaula. Friends may join the family in the funeral home the hour prior to the service on Thursday. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Countryside Church of Christ in Edenton, NC.
