Ronald Oberg Jones

Ronald Oberg Jones, 76, of 131 Shannonhouse Road, Edenton, NC, died Friday, November 2, 2012 in Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Windsor, NC. Mr. Jones was born in Upland, PA and was the son of the late James Arthur, Sr. and Anna Katherine Oberg Jones. Retired from the United States Marine Corps after more than 20 years of service, he worked as an avionic electrician, had served three tours of duty in Vietnam and received the Marine Unit Citation, the Navy Unit Citation, and the Vietnamese Service Medal. He attended Albemarle Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris J. Slaughter and husband Elmer and a brother, James A. Jones, Jr. Surviving are his wife of nearly 55 years, Alice Faye Williams Jones; a daughter, Bonny Bramblet and husband Bob of Bonita Springs, FL; three sons, Donald Jones, William "Tom" Jones and wife Linda, and Joseph Lee Jones, all of Edenton; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
