Evelyn Hollowell Willis, 91, of 607-A Avoca Farm Road, Merry Hill, NC, died Monday, November 5, 2012 in Three Rivers Health & Rehabilitation, Windsor, NC. Mrs. Willis was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Wayland Clayton and Sadie Bass Hollowell. A homemaker, she had worked as a clerk with Rose's Department Store in Edenton and was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church and its W.M.U. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bert C. Willis, Sr.; daughters, Betty Rea and Millie Bunch; son, Bert Willis, Jr.; sister, Esther Spencer; and by brothers, Richard and Wayland "Dick" Hollowell. Surviving are her daughter, Miriam Hughes and husband Tony of Merry Hill; a son, Thomas Clayton Willis and wife Beth of Holly Springs; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Willis of Merry Hill; two sons-in-law, Robin Rea of Plymouth and Frank Bunch of Merry Hill; a sister, Frances H. Taylor of Merry Hill; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, by the Rev. Woody Copeland. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the home of her daughter, Miriam, 105 Printers Lane, Merry Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Health & Rehab, 1403 Conner Drive, Windsor, NC 27983, for use in their memorial garden or to the Baptist Children's Homes of NC, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
